A favorite painting of sunflowers purchased at a student art show in New York was the muse for Bryan Batt and Tom Cianfichi's "End of Summer Bounty" table. "The painting reminded us of a trip to the south of France and we wanted to do something reminiscent of that," says Batt, who co-owns the Magazine Street shop Hazelnut with Cianfichi. After a trip to the grocery store for flowers, fruits and vegetables, the duo pulled together a fall palette of oranges, golds, and greens, using things from around their home. The foundation of the arrangement is a tablecloth from their signature line of linens. But the focal point is a plant stand from their patio and a ceramic jar filled with sunflowers. Lemons add a dash of contrasting color to each of the capiz shell plates topped with linen napkins purchased at a sample sale for $1 each. Stoppered bottles, which originally contained sparkling lemonade, are filled with colored waters and used as candleholders and vases. A silver cornucopia, Buccelatti leaf dishes, horn serving pieces, and colorful stemware round out the design. "Start with whatever you're most excited about, relax and have fun," says Cianfichi. "You can make anything work."
